Our beloved Scott passed away at home in Pasadena on June 22, 2013, at age 67. Scott is survived by his wife, Nancy, of 41 years; their children, Katherine and Marc; daughter-in-law Abbey; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Ron Rich; brother-in-law, Jamie Dawson; and nephews, Colin and Brian Rich.
Scott was born in Tacoma, Washington in 1945, and moved with his parents and sister throughout California and Washington before attending Fullerton Community College, UCLA
, and San Fernando College of Law in Southern California, where he later met and married Nancy.
Nancy and Scott's children were born in the Los Angeles area. Scott, Nancy, and family, moved from Westwood to Pasadena, where they've lived since 1988. Scott began work with Aetna, later to become ING, in 1968. Throughout his forty-five year career in the financial business he counted himself fortunate to be alongside other colleagues in the ranks of Presidents Club but of his many accolades the one that inspired him most was his membership in the MDRT Top of the Table. Nancy joined him in 1987 and together they built a business of which he was very proud.
Nancy and Scott enjoyed travel and activities with their family and friends. Scott was an avid golfer and fisherman, and he scored his first hole in one in January of this year, and played his last round with his son, Marc.
Scott's extended family, including relatives, friends, and the friends of his children, were always welcomed in Nancy and Scott's home. They all knew Scott and Nancy as warm, compassionate and happy people, and all who visited felt as though they were part of the Johnson family.
Scott was also very thankful for the support provided by his family, friends and their families, who shared life with him and provided comforting support as Scott's battle with cancer came to an end. Scott was very concerned and thoughtful of people, and he was active in many community organizations, including: the Presbyterian Church, as an Elder and Deacon. He enjoyed a twenty-six year relationship, as a driver, with Meals on Wheels and sat on the board of the Yes You Can Foundation.
A memorial service for Scott will be held at 3:00 on Tuesday afternoon, July 9th, at the La Canada Presbyterian Church (626 Foothill Blvd. La Canada, 91011) In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Scott Johnson's memory be made to the University of Southern California WCC, with the notation that donations be applied to the "Research of David Agus MD". The address is: Doctors of USC, 9033 Wilshire Boulevard, Suite 300, Beverly Hills, CA 90211. Donations should be sent in memory of Scott Tinsman Johnson.
