Sol H. Marshall

May 10, 1912 - October 25, 2013 Sol died peacefully, aged 101, after a remarkable life committed to helping others. Born & raised in Milwaukee, earned multiple masters degrees, married Marion Glickman 49 years, served in US Army Qtrmaster Corps in WWII. Moved to LA (1949), career with Jewish Centers Assoc of Greater LA included Director of 3 JCCs, then 20 years Director of Public Relations. In 1960's: President of US Volleyball Assoc & AAU Volleyball Division, US Mens Volleyball team mgr at 3 Maccabiah Games in Israel, served on US Olympic Committee Mens Volleyball. Retired 1974: became book publisher, teacher, journalist, book reviewer, publicist, and consultant. Tireless volunteer for many organizations, Jewish War Veterans, and at 1986 Olympics. Preceded in death by Marion & children Ronald & Alice; survived by son Steven. Funeral: Hillside Memorial Park 11 am Thurs 10-31-13. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at www.jewishLA.org. Truly a great man who will be deeply missed by family and friends.
