Vernis Alma (Gray) Adams

March 8, 1920 - April 14, 2014 Vernis Alma (Gray) Adams, age 94, South Gate, CA, born to Jasper E. Gray and Ivy (Boobar) Gray, in South Haven, MN; graduated from Technical High School, St. Cloud, MN; Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, U of MN, 1946; moved to Los Angeles, worked as Medical Technologist at St. Francis Hospital, Lynwood; earned Master's Degree, U of MN, 1960. Mrs. Adams was Chief Technologist at St. Francis before being chosen to run the Clinical Laboratory Medical Group (CLMG) School of Medical Technology, formed by the pathologists in 1961. Adams had educated more than 250 medical technologists when her last class graduated in 1985; she retired in 1986. She was an active member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, a dog-lover, and a friend to scores of her med tech grads. She is survived by nieces and nephews in AZ, OR, CA, SD, and MN; grand-nieces, grand-nephews and their offspring; a myriad of friends, former students, loving care-givers, and special friend, Eileen Johnson, who died 11-11-13. Memorial Service - 11 AM, Fri., May 9; St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 10354 Downey Ave., Downey 90241. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Mark's, or animal humane groups would be appreciated. (Interment following funeral, St. Mark's columbarium.)
