David Seizer Obituary

July 20, 1939 - November 7, 2013 David was born into the loving family of Henry and Edith Seizer in Des Moines, Iowa. His brother Bob was eight years older, his sister Alice six years older and David was a treasured little brother all his life. The family moved to Beverly Hills when he was six, and he graduated from Berverly Hills High. He was an accomplished softball pitcher and also played football and basketball. After high school he joined the army with about 50 of his friends from Beverly and he completed seven years of reserve duty. David graduated from UCLA and joined Xerox, where he became legendary in both sales and sales management. The impact he made on individuals' lives is something he always cherished. After leaving Xerox he went on to build sales organizations for many companies including Rolm/IBM, GE, Ricoh, Compaq and Food.com. He married the love of his life, Patty, in 1977. Those who knew them saw the special love affair they had. David wrote to Patty in 1983, "The last years of my life, the best day of my life revolves around you. You make it all worthwhile and I love you for it." Besides Patty and his passion for work, David had two remarkable loves: first, Yorkies. From the time they met the couple had precious dogs and the ashes of AB and PJ are with him today. The second passion is fast, beautiful cars, expensive, exotic and hard to get. From his Cadillac convertibles in the 60's to his first Ferrari in 1972, to ten different Porsches, and Lamborghinis, Jaguars, Maseratis, Aston Martins and McLaren's, David had them all and loved them all. His love of cars extended to a passion for Formula I racing which he and Patty traveled the world to watch. David and Patty decided to stop working around 2001 and found themselves visiting family in Dallas. Before either realized it they had built a dream house and began the last chapter of their lives. Travel, family, cars and friends filled his life with joy. Four years ago David underwent radiation for tongue cancer and his death is the end of a long and painful battle. His brother, Bob, and sister-in-law Fern were with him in the last days, as were Patty's sister, Bobbi Matlock, mother Virginia Shadid, brother Mark Forrer and his wife Julie, stepmother Jodi Forrer, and niece and nephew Julie and Michael Emmer. Nephews Jeff Teller and Steven Seizer and niece Susan Seizer and their children, as well as Patty's nieces and nephews, loved him and will miss him. Contributions in his memory may be made to the cancer organization or no-kill animal shelter of your choice.

Patty I hope you will remember us. We met David last year around Christmas when we brought our Yorkie Isabella to the Legacy to visit some of the residents there. David and my husband Scott found they had a mutual love of cars and the two of them talked for QUITE some time. We subsequently met you and y'alls Yorkie at another visit. Then - a few months ago, we heard that David was receiving rehab and was doing well - so we were shocked and saddened to learn of his passing. Although we did not know him well - we could see how kind and warm he was - please accept our sincerest condolences...

David & I were close friends as high school & university students and I have many fond memories of our times together. I first met him on the baseball diamond in the late 1940s, facing his blazing fastball in inter-school competitions. He was always a great competitor, as well as one with considerable communicative skills combined with a quick wit. A big personality who will be missed I have no doubt. My sincere condolences to his family and those who were close to him in recent years.

David was such an interesting and loveable man . . . I never had a boring conversation with David. He was a man of integrity and was such a loving and supporting husband to his sweetheart and wife, Patty . . . I will ever be grateful for his friendship and the privilege of being his neighbor.

David Seizer...such a lovely man, too short a time on earth. The thing I will always remember about David--Never ask him something if you didn't want a really good explanation! And that guy knew SO MUCH about so much! He had both wisdom and knowledge. There's a big difference. Some of the best conversations EVER!

Debbie and I will forever remember our special next door neighbor in the fondest way. David never failed to entertain us with his intellectual prowess, usually with a nice dose of amusement.
