Gerald Paul M.D.

June 6, 1941 - October 25, 2013 Born and educated in Winnipeg, Canada, Dr. Paul, a prominent orthopedic surgeon, received his medical degree at the University of Manitoba and came to the United States to further his medical career. He served this country as a Captain in the U. S. Army Medical Corps from 1967-1969, including a tour as a Combat Battalion Surgeon in Viet Nam in 1967 during which time he was seriously wounded. He received the Army Commendation Medal from the Department of the Army. Dr. Paul completed residencies in Orthopedic Surgery at The Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center, Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, Ranchos Los Amigos Hospital, and Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada. He was a respected Orthopedic Surgeon and Qualified Medical/ Legal Evaluator for over 40 years. He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years Judi Anne Paul and their 4 children: Johnathan, Zachary, Stephanie, and Benjamin, of Los Angeles, brother Cary of Winnipeg, Canada, sister Frances of Toronto, Canada, and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents Billie and Albert Paul of Winnipeg, Canada precede him in death. Dr. Paul and his wife Judi combined their loves of golf and travel by taking frequent excursions together. They shared their fondness for animals. Dr. Paul was an avid reader who loved the sciences. He was a fan of music and sports cars. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his wife and children. He will be greatly missed by family, friends, staff, the medical-legal community, and his patients. Services will be held at Mount Sinai Memorial Park in Simi Valley on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at 12 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Best Friends Animal Society-Los Angeles-Mission Hills, California, in memory of Gerald M. Paul, M.D.
