Rodolfo Gonzalez Obituary
November 11, 1928 - October 26, 2010
Rudy Gonzalez, 81, passed away in Torrance, CA with his family by his side. Rudy was born in El Paso, Texas to Francisca & Alberto Gonzalez. He attended the Texas College of Mines, where he won many state & regional tennis titles. In 1952, he moved to Venice, CA and began a 40+ yr career as a Chemical Engineer with McDonnell Douglas & Northrop. Rudy was involved in the B2, Space Shuttle, and various Gov't defense programs. In addition to having patents in his name, The Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering awarded him the prestigious title of Fellow in 1993. Throughout his life, Rudy loved spending time playing tennis and golf, traveling the world, and being with family. Rudy was a proud 38 year resident of Palos Verdes Estates and a longtime member of the PV Golf Club and the PV Tennis Club. Rudy is survived by his wife, Virginia (Gigi), with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage this year. He also leaves behind his 3 children and their spouses, and 6 grandchildren whom he spoiled and adored. His family: Karla, Pat, Alex & Lindsey Kehres; Anita, Joe, Daniel, & Katie Lewis; Bruce, Jennifer, Christopher, & Emily Gonzalez. A rosary will be held on Fri, Nov 5, 2010 at 3 pm at Green Hills Cemetery with a viewing until 7 pm (27501 S. Western Ave, Rancho Palos Verdes). Funeral Services will be held at 10 am (with a viewing from 9 am) on Sat, Nov 6, 2010 at Rolling Hills United Methodist Church (26438 Crenshaw Blvd, Rolling Hills Estates). Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. Rudy cherished his friends and family dearly, and will be greatly missed by all.
