Arlene Rosen Obituary

April 5, 1928 - July 21, 2015 Arlene Goodstein Rosen died peacefully in her sleep in the presence of her loving family on July 21, 2015 at her home in Beverly Hills, California. Arlene was born on April 5, 1928 in Casper, Wyoming and is the daughter of Fred Goodstein and Ida Goodstein. She is survived by her loving Husband Freddee Towles, her daughters Tobi Travis and Linda Lorentzen, her grandchildren Phillip Haleen and Sean Haleen, and great grandchild Zamara Rose Haleen. Arlene grew up in Casper, Wyoming and attended Stanford University where she earned both her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees. After the untimely death of her son Michael, Arlene devoted her life to the creation of a drug abuse treatment and after-care facility in Palm Springs, which she aptly named "Michaels House." Her zest for life, her business acumen and her ability to turn life's losses into victories powered her leadership in the drug abuse community for many years. With her humor, wit and generosity she lived life to the fullest and leaves a legacy of family and friends who will always love her.

Time heals the pain and time heals the sorrow. Your passing was tremendous at Micheals House. Just wanted you to know that now I have Nine years clean. I owe it to my higher power, myself, and for wanting to change my life but never having the tools to change. I am mentoring addicts now in my business and passing those tools on. Thank you for all you did for addicts like me and for Micheals House.

After forty years of drug use I now have five years clean. Because of Micheals House, the staff, and the tools given to me through their program I now live a life beyond my wildest dreams. Thank you Arlene, you were truly one of God's beautiful angels.

Today I am alive

I am so sad at the loss of Arlene and My heart and prayers go out to the family. 20 + yrs. ago I started working with Arlene, referring clients back and forth to get them the best care possible. So many people were helped by her and her wonderful staff. In our industry it is said that an addict and their addiction will affect at least 7 other people. When using, the effect is not so good, but when clean and sober the effect can be life changing for those who love us. I wonder how many lives, clients and loved ones, that Arlene's hard work and passion, affected. No doubt there are thousands. She will be missed but she did what most people don't do, she made a difference in this world.

Respectfully,

Kirby Dean

Thank you, Arlene Rosen!
I was in Michael's House and I will have 5 years of sobriety next month. I'm forever grateful for this second chance. My smile on the picture is a smile I got at Michael's House.

I just celebrated 11 years clean and sober. Thank you Arlene and family!! June 4, 2004. My best to The family! What an amazing woman who helped me get sober! I am now the Director of the recovery program at the university of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. I would not be alive today without Michael's house.
