It is with great sorrow we inform you that Gordon W. Gregory passed away on August 6, 2013. He fought a long and valiant battle against cancer with great dignity, retaining his infectious optimism and witty humor until the end.
Gordon was born in Los Angeles on August 8, 1953. He was raised in Encino and attended Birmingham High School. He graduated with a B.A. in Economics from USC in 1975. Gordon earned an MBA in Finance from the University of California, Berkeley, where he met his wife Gayle, while earning a Juris Doctorate from the University of California, Hastings College of Law in 1978. He was certified by FINRA as a general securities principal (Series 24) and a registered representative (Series 7, 79 and 63), was a licensed California Real Estate Broker, was admitted to practice law in California, and had passed the California CPA exam.
Most notably, Gordon was Managing Director of ProVisors, the leading organization of trusted advisors and respected professionals serving middle market companies and their owners, which he co-founded in 1988 with Davis Blaine. Gordon had a profound love for ProVisors, its members, and staff.
Gordon was the Founder, and Managing Director of Mosaic Capital LLC and Mosaic Capital Securities LLC, the premier specialty investment banking firm in Southern California providing global merger & acquisition and capital markets advisory services to the middle market.
Gordon started his career at KPMG Peat Marwick, where he guided blue chip clientele in planning and implementing domestic and international tax, transaction and exit strategies. He then opened his own law practice in Los Angeles, specializing in business transactions and tax planning for entrepreneurs and family owned companies.
Gordon served on the board of directors of IMAP, a global organization of leading investment banking firms. He was a member of both ACG and AMAA, national organizations of private equity buyers, financial institutions and professionals involved in M&A and capital markets.
Gordon was a lifetime member of El Caballero Country Club. He was also a longtime member of MountainGate Country Club, where he was considered an excellent tennis player. He was a Board member and supporter of the Pat Brown Institute at CSULA.
Gordon is survived by his three beautiful daughters: Jayna, Taryn and Kendra, as well as his mother Geraldine Weiner Gregory, and brother Glenn Gregory. Gordon was preceded in death by his wife, Gayle Kardoos Gregory, his father George Gregory, and his brother Alex Gregory.
Gordon will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues and community.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at 11:00am at Temple Judea in Tarzana.
