Leigh Hamilton Obituary
December 20, 1949 - September 8, 2012
Santa Monica-Malibu resident Leigh Hamilton, 62, passed away September 8th, 2012 at St. John's Hospital in Los Angeles, California. Her final moments were spent among family and friends. Leigh was born December 20th, 1949 in Auckland, New Zealand to Colleen and Derek Hiene. Leigh touched so many lives through her great passion for the arts, as a gallery owner and actress in such movies as A Man, A Woman, and A Bank and Gas Food Lodging. Leigh's tenacity and great eye for beauty translated to the success of her gallery, Hamilton Galleries, in Santa Monica. Leigh is survived by her 4 brothers, husband of 19 years, Warren Long, and her beautiful daughter, Tallulah. It has been a long time since I last saw Leigh – except for the photos of this eternally beautiful woman – but I did know her well enough that my heart goes out to all those close to her who will now have to live their lives without her. May your memories sustain you.

I was lucky to know Leigh in many moments. First memory is watching our daughters dance in ballet at ages 4 and 5; then growing a friendship as our girls nurtured their own; and finally as moms who debated how to share -- and when to share -- news about the scary cancer within our own social structures.
Leigh's compassion, strength and deep insights were as breath-taking as her beauty. She did take my breath away.
