Aladean Markham Obituary
April 15, 1929 - October 12, 2010
Aladean was born near Krebs, Oklahoma. She moved to Los Angeles in 1948 and taught for over 50 years with LAUSD, 40 of which she spent as an exemplary teacher at Alta Loma Elementary School. Community activist, gifted orator and gracious host, Aladean was known for her love of people and her passion for inspiring her students to reach for the stars. She is survived by her husband, Arthur Markham, son, Randy Markham, daughter Melanie Markham Nathan, grandsons Ryan Markham, Nicholas and Noah Nathan and a host of friends and relatives. Services will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2010 at 10:00 am at Calvary Baptist Church, 4911 W. 59th St. in LA.

Mrs. Markham was my elementary school teacher at Alta Loma Elementary School, I believe it was in 1989. She was so sweet and kind, I can only imagine how much of a blessing she was to her family. I remember going on a local game show for kids (our class) and she invited us to her home for a pool party after the show. I pray that God has shown favor to her family in their times of need.

Dear Melanie,
My condolence to you and your family. Just learned of Moms passing and am saddened. I have fond memories of Mrs. Markham. We only worked together for a year at Alta Loma but I like to think that as we met throughout the community over the years we had a fondness for each other. She will be missed. Blessings to you all , Paula Morrison Davis.
