Alexandra Laird Obituary

LAIRD, Alexandra San Pedro - Alexandra Laird, 77, died of brain cancer September 12, 2006 in San Pedro. Born June 23, 1929 in New York City, she resided in San Pedro for 15 years where her family's boat is located. She enjoyed 43 years of boating and cruising with her family throughout Catalina, the Channel Islands, Mexico, and the Intracoastal Waterway. Mrs. Laird maintained a powerful career while raising her three children Lee, Jennifer and Christopher. She worked for Mattel Toys from 1963-1969 naming all their toys, including various "Barbie Collections" and "Hot Wheels", still popular today. Mrs. Laird loved playing Bridge, gourmet cooking and entertaining, and celebrating the holidays with her family. Alexandra was the daughter of Alice Widener, nationally syndicated columnist, and Nicolai Berezowsky, famous Russian composer, conductor, and concert violinist. She is survived by her brother Sergei Berezowsky, her husband Jere of 49 years, and her three children Lee, Jennifer and Christopher. A personal memorial gathering of close family and friends will be held in the family home October 1, 2006.
