Allen Remanick Obituary

Remanick, Allen
October 16, 1931 - October 14, 2010
Dr. Allen Remanick, a man beloved by his family and friends, died early Thursday morning after a two year-long battle with cancer. Elisabeth, his wife of 52 years, was with him at the time.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, Remanick moved to Southern California in the early 50s. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles and his doctorate in chemistry from the University of Southern California. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to1956. He remained a life-long fan of his hometown Chicago Cubs.
During his work with the pioneering Aerojet General Corporation in the early 1960s, Remanick helped develop new compounds used in solid rocket propellants. In the early 70s, he left the field of chemistry to pursue a career in real estate investment, which he maintained for the next 35 years.
In retirement, Remanick enjoyed a regular schedule of travel. Often including visits with his wife's extended family in Germany, Remanick's trips were centered on bicycle rides and walking tours.
He is survived by his wife Elisabeth, children Matthew, Berton and Aimee, 12 nieces and nephews and 11 grand nieces and nephews. A memorial service is scheduled for this Sunday, October 17, 1:00 pm, at Mt. Sinai Memorial Park and Mortuary in Los Angeles. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to www.livestrong.org.
