CHEN, Sister Ancilla (Tcheng Tchao Chen), SSS, MD Sister Ancilla Chen, SSS died at home in Encino, California on November 29, 2012. Sister Ancilla was born in Peking, China in 1922. Completing her medical studies in Shanghai she immigrated in 1949 to become a Sister of Social Service in Los Angeles. Unable to return to China, she practiced in California until she joined the founding group establishing the SSS in Taiwan in 1963. There she opened Our Lady of China Clinic, was Medical Director at Cardinal Tien Medical Center, founded the Family Medicine and Geriatrics Department and mentored many young physicians. She is survived by her sister Cheng Xiu Shen (Nora); nephews John Li, Zhilong Shen, Zhixiang Shen, Zhili Shen and nieces Lekai Li, Zhang Zhang and Zhixiong Shen.
