Ann C. Prindeville, 84, died June 11 at her home in Long Beach. A native of Detroit who moved with her family to California in 1941, she was for many years a teacher at Ernie Pyle Elementary School in Bellflower, also earning masters and doctoral degrees from UCLA. Ever a true friend, Ann arranged in 2004 for Dr. Edwin Swengel (who was also her professional mentor) and his wife Elizabeth, both ailing, to move into her home where they ended their lives peacefully some years later. Ann will be remembered for her great generosity, integrity, intelligence, humor, love of travel and support for trees and wildlife. Ann was a faithful member of St. Barnabas Parish. She was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by many: the Swengel family; nieces Frances Ziegler of Simi Valley, Carol Howard of Richland, Michigan, Elizabeth Ziegler of Encino and Barbara Disney of Kalamazoo; grand-nieces Kathleen and Anne Disney; nephews Fred Uebbing of San Diego and William Uebbing of New York City; and her longtime caregiver who became her dear friend, Nenita Rodriguez of Long Beach.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Heifer International (www.heifer.org).
