August 23, 1921 - December 19, 2010
Born August 23, 1921 in Kaunas, Lithuania, Bruno Aras (89) passed away peacefully in his home in Thousand Oaks on December 19, 2010. Bruno graduated from University of Hanover, Germany in 1949 with a degree in Architecture. He immigrated to the United States where he met and married his wife, Mary Egle Aras in 1950. They settled in Cleveland, Ohio where their two children, Ruta Kristina Aras and John Algis Aras were born. Bruno worked for various architectural firms before moving to Washington, D.C., where he opened up his own company, Aras & Asscociates (1969-1977) in Silver Spring, Md. In 1978 Bruno and his wife headed to California where he worked for many years as a Principal Architect for The Ralph M. Parsons Company in Pasadena. Bruno worked as an architect, engineer and contractor on many award winning projects until he retired in 1985. He leaves his wife, Mary Egle Aras, daughter, Ruta Aras-Taksen of Calabasas, son, Jonas Algis Aras of Annapolis, Md., and grandchildren, Evan and Emily Aras and Matthew Taksen, and sisters Aldona Vaziene and Irena Zaronskiene and family and friends in Lithuania, United States and Canada. He enjoyed soccer, tennis, fishing, camping, his dog Duke, painting, traveling, building projects and spending time with his family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 8th, 2011 at St. Casimir's Catholic Church, 2718 Saint George Street, Los Angeles, Ca 90027
