Catherine Russell Obituary

RUSSELL, Catherine Odenwalder Catherine Odenwalder Russell, long time resident of Sherman Oaks and Studio City, passed away January 23, 2012 in Sherman Oaks Hospital after a sudden illness. Cathy was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on April 26, 1954 and grew up in Memphis, TN. She was married to Joseph M. Russell, also formerly of Memphis. They would have celebrated 29 years of marriage in March. She was a graduate of the Pasadena City College School of Nursing. Cathy was the adoring mother of two children, Josh and Katie, and consistently volunteered her time and energy to their various school, social, cultural, and sporting activities. She was a warm, giving person, known for her sense of humor. Cathy is survived by her children, her husband, and her brother, Michael Odenwalder of Dallas, TX. Cathy leaves her sisters-in-law: Karen Russell of Collierville, TN, Stephanie Wright of Germantown, TN, JoAnn Wright of Oxford, Ms and Connie Kingery of Jacksonville, FL; her brothers-in-law, Robert Russell of Collierville,TN, Kenneth Wright of Germantown, TN, and Gary Wright of Oxford, MS. and many loving nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Barbara Rogers Wright of Memphis, TN. The family asks those wishing to remember Cathy in a special way, may make contributions in her name to The Rheumatoid Patient Foundation at rheum4us.org.

I met Cathy when she was a teenager and she later became my sisterinlaw for many years. I have always loved her. My heart breaks for her family.

We were very shocked and saddened to hear of Cathy 's death, and so many of us have the same illness . Many of the forums online share membership and support, and Cathy 's death has touched many. She will be in our hearts and thoughts. RAD is horrible and we continue to try and find a "cure". We are there for your family any time. RAWarriors are just that, Warriors and we will not forget Catherine.
