Charles A. Munstein
Known for his humanitarian contributions and involvement with the American Legion, Optimist Club, Elks and Moose lodge died on Monday, December 27th, 2010 in his home at the age of 89. Chuck was born June 25th, 1921 in Cleveland Heights, Ohio to Abraham and Sarah Munstein. Chuck graduated from Cleveland Heights High. He joined the Army Aircore in 1942 where he was awarded the Bronze Medal for his design and development of a specialized hydraulic lift.
Chuck and his father owned MUNI'S liquor store in Venice, now a well known landmark. He later became a Real Estate Broker.
Preceded in death by father Abraham, mother Sarah, sister Pearl and wife Elizabeth (Jo).
Surviving relatives include his son Gary, and daughters Yvonne, Jody, Annette, Judy, 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held on January 3rd, 2011 at 12:30 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church located at 1730 Wilshire Blvd. Santa Monica, CA. 90403. Grave side ceremony to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery . In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Jews for Jesus; (310) 443-9553.

Chuck, you always were so kind to me and I will always appreciate you and how you allowed me to call you "Dad". I will miss you so very much.

From 1952 to about 1955 I drove (while going to college)a [pickup and delivery route, which stopped six days per week at Muni's Liquor in Venice.
Chuck Munstein was usually my daily contact and a man with whom I enjoyed conversing.
Muni was a kind and gracious man, and I was saddened to read of his passing, for I know he will be missed by his Family.
In closing I would like to remember to "Muni" for being so kind and considerate to me.
