Charles Altsman Obituary

Altsman, Charles
September 16, 1923 - December 25, 2010
Charlie was born in the Bronx to his dear parents of blessed memory, Dora and Isidore. He was the adored older brother of Selma Binder. Charlie was married to his beloved Mary for almost 65 years; dear father of Carol (Irwin) Koransky and Judy (Dave) Turchin; Grandpa/Pa to Dr. Mark (Marsha) Koransky, Arianna (Rabbi Isaac) Jeret and Jessie Turchin; Papa to Mason, Tali, Jacob and Judah. Loving brother-in-law to Hannah Weissfeld and Ruthe Crespin and cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was deeply loved.
Proud member of the "Greatest Generation," he was a veteran of World War II and was an active member of the Jewish War Veterans, SFV Post 603. He served as JWV California Commander and on the National Executive Committee. He graduated Pace University with an accounting degree.
Our family wants to thank all of the people who tenderly watched over and cared for Charlie at the Jewish Home for the Aging.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be deeply appreciated by his family to the Jewish Home for the Aging, Jewish War Veterans or The Jewish Federation.

I was very saddened to hear the news of Charlie's passing. It was an honor to have known him. I have fond memories of my time with Charlie and Mary when he was with TrinityCare Hospice. May he now rest in peace.
