Lindus, Clay Francis February 24, 1937 - June 5, 2012 Clay Francis Lindus died peacefully at his home in Montecito on June 5, 2012 after a long illness. He was born in San Francisco on February 24, 1937 to Francis Howard Lindus and Bernice Robinson Lindus. He attended The Polytechnic School in Pasadena and was a graduate of The Hill School in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. He received his BA from Stanford University in 1959 and served as an officer in the US Navy shortly thereafter. In 1964, he married "the love of my life", Nancy Jo Sweeney and together they raised two children, Scott Francis Lindus of Los Angeles, California and Stephanie Lindus Hoover of Rye, New York. Clay enjoyed a 35 year career at Mobil Oil Corporation, which included moves to Washington DC and London. He retired in 1995 and put down roots in Santa Barbara with Nancy Jo. Clay is survived by his son Scott, his daughter Stephanie, his brother Harry Robinson Hamlin and his brother and sister-in-law Ronald and Wendy Pini, along with his five beloved grandchildren: Hayden, Hilary and Harrison Hoover and Sophia and Beau Lindus. He is also survived by his best friend and constant companion, his dog Lisel, who now lives with his son Scott's family. Services will be private.
