Dan Felger Obituary

Felger, Dan
April 19, 1930 - November 19, 2010
Dan Felger lost his courageous battle against Merkel Cell carcinoma on November 19th, 2010. He passed away peacefully with his wife, Carolyn, his children and grandchildren by his side.

Dan was born in 1930 in Los Angeles, California. Dan was very much a family man, and a successful real estate developer.

He served in the Navy during the Korean War and was a graduate of UCLA. Much could be written about his passion for life, his love for tennis and his lifelong passion for fishing. Dan especially loved his long range tuna fishing trips. He was a member of the Los Angeles Rod and Reel Club, joining in it's founding year of 1950. He helped guide the LARRC to become one of the leading sport fishing clubs in California.

Dan lived his life with class, hard work, generosity, integrity and love. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. Dan is survived by his loving wife Carolyn, brother Richard (Silke), son Brad Felger (Valerie), daughter Tracy Rosberg (Michael), step-son Donal MacAdam (Robin), step-daughter Karen Moureaux, cousin Nancy Israel, grandchildren Danielle, Hailey, Katie, Megan, Miles, Miken, Holden, Wyatt, Cassidy and great-grandchildren Ivorie and Dominique.

A celebration of Dan's life will be held in the near future. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Los Angeles Rod and Reel Club Foundation.

My mother and father were close friends with Dans mother and father, and from our first birthday parties, Dan and I were friends. Dans father, Louie Felger, was our doctor and he oftern repaired my tramas from sports at Cedars Hospital. Dan and I plus 12 other regulars would charter a live bait boat every other Wednesday to go yellow tail fishing wherever they were.
Each trip would entail a money pool, and each trip, the pool would be won by Dan. He certainly was the best fisherman in Calufornia. Dan and I got out of the srvice at about the same time, and we became partners to build four houses overlooking the valley. He taught me for what became my lifelong business. He was one of the most wonderful people in my now 80 years of life, and I will miss him.

My condolences to the Felger family. I talked with Dan several years ago at the Burbank airport. He and the family were leaving on vacation and we sat and had a nice visit. I first met Dan in the l970's and followed his fishing events and more directly his involment in real estate investments. One thing I remember is when my mother died in 1982, he sent me a condolence card. He had never met her or knew of her but he was one of the few that sent a card. I will never forget that.
