Donald Sviland Obituary
April 21, 1928 - September 26, 2010
After 82 years Don left us peacefully in the home of his son's family to begin eternal life with our holy Lord. He was battling cancer as well as the loss two months earlier of his long-time companion Joan Petrone. Don was born in Escanaba, Michigan. After serving in the Korean War he received a degree from the University of WIsconsin at Madison where he met Mary Anne Petrich. They married and moved to southern California where they started a family. He had a fulfilling career as an aerospace engineer. After a divorce he again found love with Joan. Don loved golf and the simple things in life. He remained a devout Roman Catholic. Before his passing he received the last rites. Don is survived by his daughter Laura Sviland, his son Gregory Sviland, and his granddaughter Keanna Sviland. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. this Saturday October 2nd at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Laguna Woods. He will be buried near his parents and sister in Escanaba, Michigan.
