Hults, Doris Johnson
November 26, 1918 - November 2, 2010
Doris Johnson Hults, 91, passed away on November 2, 2010 in Cary, North Carolina. Born on November 26, 1918 in Wilmington, Delaware; she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Mary Bowman Johnson and wife of the late Arlo Hults.
Doris studied harp with Eileen Malone at the Eastman School of Music graduating with a Bachelor of Music in 1941. She continued studies at Julliard with Marcel Grandjany. For many years she toured with Fred Waring and The Pennsylvanians. She was also staff harpist on networks playing such shows as The Big Payoff and Lights Out. Doris was a gifted artist and studied at the Art Students League in NYC. After moving to California in 1961 she obtained G.R.I and C.R.S. designations and became a successful real estate broker for 40 years. She began with Gribin VonDyl and later joined Coldwell Banker.
She is survived by her daughter: Susan M. Rose and husband Mark, of Cary, NC; step-son: Arlo Hults of Vista, CA; grandchildren: Brant Rose, L.A., Todd Rose , Menlo Park, CA , Hunter Hults and Arlo Stone, Beaverton OR; and great-grandchildren: Caroline Rose and Leopold Godel. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Stroke Association, 9707 East Easter Lane, Centennial, CO 80112, to the American Heart Association or to the charity of your choice.
A memorial Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Sherman Oaks, 4445 Noble Avenue, Sherman Oaks on Wednesday, December 15 at 1:00 p.m.
