Doris Hartstone, 92, passed away on March 28, 2014 at her home in San Marino, California. Mrs. Hartstone (Doris) was born in Boston, Massachusetts, where she lived until moving to Southern California in 1960. Despite relocating to California, she always considered Boston to be her true home at heart, where she will be laid to rest next to her parents. A lifelong lover of classical music, she was an avid piano enthusiast and active member of Tuesday Musicale, an organization that promotes music throughout the community. Her radio always filled her house with the sounds of the great composers, including her favorite, Brahms. She also continually promoted and appreciated youth involvement in the arts. Her passions included antiques, reading, and Chinese art and culture. She would often spend her mornings completing the LA Times crossword puzzle with her cat by her side. She was also a dedicated supporter of animal welfare, donating to a variety of charities. She was predeceased in death by her husband, George D. Hartstone. She is survived by her three daughters Christine Hendrickson, Jill Krum, and Laura Huffman, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She will be terribly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to one of her favorite charities: The Tuesday Musicale of Pasadena, a 501(c)(3), c/o Vicky Parian, 552 Woodland Court, Duarte, CA 91010-1364; or World Wildlife Fund, PO Box 97180, Washington, DC 20090-7180 or https://secure.worldwildlife.org/donations/memorial-donation.aspx.
