Eleanor Guthman, 96, passed away April 15th. A Chicago native, she received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Chicago, a Hebrew teacher's degree from Spertus College, and a master's in education from California State University Long Beach. She was a teacher and reading specialist for L.A.U.S.D., and taught Hebrew at Long Beach City College. Past president of Carmel Hadassah, she was an active member in many Jewish organizations. Married for 70 years to the late Rabbi Sidney Guthman, she leaves her children David (Caren), Betty (Dr. Donald) Schwartz, 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her loving family. Funeral 11:00 am, Friday, April 18th at Hillside Cemetery.
