Evelyne CONTI Obituary

CONTI, Evelyne Blazek Mar. 31, 1916-Sept. 21, 2010 Beloved of countless many friends and family, Evelyne was born in Chicago, moved to Los Angeles in 1947 with husband Dr. James Conti, Jr, and raised four children with loving care and devotion. "Evie" and Jim, avid world travelers for many years, were married for 60 years until his death in 2001. Remarkably active throughout her 94 years, Evelyne contributed widely to local and national charities. A tournament bridge player and Life Master, she retained her exceptional skill at the game until her final days. An enthusiastic golfer as well, Evelyne was a member of the Los Angeles Country Club since 1953, where, at age 84, she won her handicap flight in the annual President's Cup. A sports fan, too, she seldom missed a radio or TV broadcast of Dodger and Laker games and the PGA tour.
Evelyne also excelled as a needlepoint artist, and her knitwear was featured at the recent LACMA Resnick Fashion Show. Reading was another passion, and she attended a monthly book club until the end. Evelyne passed away in her beloved Santa Monica following a short illness. Predeceased by Jim and her son Stephen, she is survived by son James III and his wife Tricia, daughters Suzy and Stephanie, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
