Frank BELCHER Obituary

BELCHER, Frank Edward December 9, 1920- December 19, 2010 Frank Belcher, 90, died of natural causes in Rancho Palos Verdes. A native Californian, Frank served as a French translator in the First Division of the U.S. Army during World War II, landing at Omaha Beach D-Day + 1. He taught French at El Camino Junior College for 30 years, until his retirement in 1986. Passionate about classical music, history and Romance languages, he delighted in spending his free moments translating the letters of Pliny the Younger with one of his El Camino colleagues, Charles Donovan. On a lighter side, he frequently regaled his granddaughters Alexis and Lindsey with an infinite range of funny faces. Frank was predeceased by his son Jonathan and beloved wife Renee. He is survived by his daughter Claudia, his granddaughters Alexis and Lindsey, his great-granddaughter Stella, and his younger sisters Grace and Bernita.
