George Doolittle Obituary

Doolittle, George Wayman
September 4, 1927 - November 27, 2012
It is with deep and profound sorrow that the step-children of George W. Doolittle; Dennis Fragazi sp. Christine, Holly Scott-George, Michelle Scott-Rabens sp. Marcus, and Robert Scott announce his passing on November 27, 2012 after a long and arduous battle with heart disease. George was born in Natchitoches, Louisiana where he was raised on his family farm. He left home and joined the Armed Services 4 days after his 17th Birthday to serve his country in WWII. George then went to work as a Pressman for the Los Angeles Times where he worked for a total of 42 years. He married his first wife Winnie with whom he had 2 children; Kenneth and Susan Doolittle. After their divorce, he met his second wife, Lois who also worked at the Los Angeles Times. They married in 1976 and had a very long happy life together raising their family in Long Beach and their desert cabin in Lucerne where he taught the children to drive the dune buggy and ride motorcycles on the dry lakes. George is also survived by his spouse; Lois, his grandchildren; Jeannie, Heather, Sarah, Jesse, Ashley, Robert and Madison who lovingly referred to him as "Grandpa Beard", and 7 great grand-children. We will miss our beloved Husband, Father, Patriarch, Patriot, Teacher.
Services will be held Thursday, Dec. 6th at 2 pm, at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Cypress, CA.
