Harold Starr Obituary

Starr, Harold H(Hallelujah)
March 22, 1925 - November 6, 2010
Born in Detroit, Harold came to California on vacation with his mother at age eleven and Los Angeles became their home when his father and sister joined them. He was in the Navy for two years and then in the reserves as an Ensign.
A lifelong Bruins fan and UCLA graduate, class of 1947, he was a member of Sigma Mu fraternity. He majored in marketing and following graduation opened an office with a fraternity brother and specialized in accounting and insurance. He then became a real estate broker and put together numerous property transactions in California and throughout the country. In his later career he added Professional Mediator to his many areas of expertise.
Harold loved life and made friends wherever he went. He particularly loved to travel throughout the world and make jewelry for his friends and family. For nearly 60 years he rarely missed a day at the gym and enjoyed the theater, UCLA basketball games and meeting his buddies for breakfast.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Geraldine, and three children and their spouses: Jeffery Starr, Thomas Caronna and his wife Wini, and Lisa Caronna and her husband David. Tragically, his daughter, Elyse Starr, died in an accident at age 15. He is also survived by his sister, Marcia Tracht, her husband, Jacob, and Harold's nieces, Berna and Avra. Grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive him.
He was truly one of the good guys and was loved and admired by everyone. He will be deeply missed by all. A memorial will be held Friday, November 12 at 11 am at Gates Kingsley Gates Smith Salisbury Funeral Directors, 4220 South Sepulveda Blvd. Culver City, CA
