I am truly saddened to hear of your loss. Hieu was a true professional and I am proud to have work with him during my time at MLD and the ARB. I know his staff and co-workers thought highly of him. Though I am on leave from the ARB, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Tram,
I am so sorry about your loss. While I was in MLD, Hieu was a very dedicated manager working late into the evening. I always marveled at his energy and his enthusiasm. He was instrumental in initiating and organizing the International Potluck that I attended even after I left MLD.
On several occasions when we went out for lunch as a group, I discovered that Hieu was very knowledgeable in history and culture. He enjoyed reading and could carry on a conversation without losing the audience's interests. He had a wealth of information and was an interesting conversationalist. I was privileged to know him and his delightful smile will be missed.
Please take good care of yourself and feel free to call me any time you need to talk.
With sincere condolences,
Stella Ling-Taylor

I met Hieu when I started working with the Air Resources Board in 1988. He willingly helped me over a bunch of hurdles that came with the new and unfamiliar territory of my State job. And he stuck around to check in and cheer up my day as I grew more confident and competent.
We lost touch at some point -- probably due to one of the facility moves that we've had to undergo... So the news of his illness and passing came as a sad surprise. But I'm sure glad I had a chance to know him.
My sympathies to his family -- I know that you must miss him.

Hieu was a very special person who came into into my life and brought his special love and kindness at a time when I was considering ending mine. He gently guided me into funtional thinking and I was able to overcome my grief and start to live again. He is gone from this earth but not from my heart.
Adios Hieu, till we meet again.

Tram,
Although we have never met, I wanted to let you know that I will be missing a very kind and nice co-worker and friend in Hieu. We worked in the same section many years ago, ARB's TSD, and eventually Hieu and I moved onwards and upwards. When he found out several of us old TSD'ers were going to lunch 2 or 3 times a year he joined us. And though his status had changed at work... who he was had not. He was a fun one to kid because he always had a laugh or a smile. I had not seen him since last year, but was kept abreast of his illness from Norma Montez.
Take care Tram and wherever you find your peace and harmony, may good memories keep you happy.

To the family of Hieu,
Hieu was a most uncommon kind of man. He was warm, compassionate, real, and without the ususal judgements. He spoke in gentle thoughts about everyone and his passing has left an unfillable hole in our work and personal lives.

I would like to express my deepest sympathies to Hieus' wife and family. Hieu was a most extraordinary person and I will greatly miss his smiling face in the hallway daily. It was a priviledge to have been able to work with Hieu when he first came to the ARB. He was an inspiration to me always with his support and encouragement on the job. He will be fondly remembered.
