Irving Gellert Obituary

Gellert, Irving
January 27, 1917 - November 1, 2010
Irving Gellert, 93
Young at Heart, Years of Living Life to the Fullest

Irving Gellert, 93, died on November 1, 2010 at his home in Los Angeles

Irv was born on January 27, 1917 in Ashland, Pennsylvania to Harry and Eva Gellert.

Upon graduating from Temple University, he joined the U.S. Army and served during World War II. After Irv completed his military service, he enrolled in New York University Law School and received his law degree in 1949. He was admitted to the California Bar in 1957 and practiced law for the next 30 years in New York and California.

Married for 53 years to his loving wife, Harriet, who passed away five years ago, Irv is survived by his only child, Jay Gellert.

While 93 years in age, he was young at heart and had a knack for living life to its fullest. A former All-Star high school football player in Ashland, Pennsylvania, he loved all sports but was particularly an avid Los Angeles Lakers fan. He was also a political and technology junkie and closely followed the recent election cycle on his iPad.

Irv got his greatest pleasure and reward from caring for his beloved wife as she suffered from Alzheimer's for over ten years. He touched everyone with his optimism, caring nature to all, his unconditional sense of himself and his limitless curiosity. All agree he was a loving husband, great father and the best friend you could have.
