She was such an amazing person and a true mentor. Her devotion to her family, faith and to all she came in contact with was astonishing. Our prayers and support go out to the entire Smith family.

Dear Smith Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
I have such fond memories of your Mom and Dad at MD sporting events - specifically the basketball games and watching Maria and Monica cheering their brother on.
It was so nice to reconnect with them at Smith's Nut House when I moved back to OC. Every time I went in, we would talk about the "old days" at MD and how proud they were of all the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She has left a wonderful legacy for all of you.
Again, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

I Love You Joanie! Thank you sooo much for showing me the way to create fun for more than just yourself. If I didn't know you better, I would have thought you were a little selfish to leave me hanging in the balance on this Turkey Day after teaching me how to make the perfect dressing without a recipe and not be there to give me the guidance I needed tonight. Don't worry, Gramps is in good hands with all of us. You will be truly missed beyond what you think. "Thanks for every darn thing". I'll Catch that beautiful smile upstairs on the flip side. Love you Joanie!

Dear Gene, Tad, and members of the family:
I was saddened to learn of the recent death of your dear wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and cousin, Joan Marie Smith. At times such as these, words are unable to carry the full message of comfort and consolation which we want them to bear, but they are all we have Having experienced the death of my father in 1995, I am aware of the deep emotions which accompany such a loss. Be sure of continued remembrance of her in my prayers and those of all the Brothers here at Lewis.
May the Lord continue to hold you and all your family in the hollow of his hand and may you find his comforting presence in the silent power of prayer, in the wisdom of the Scripture, the nourishment of the Eucharist, the beauty of the liturgy, and in all his holy people gathered round you to help you.
I join my voice to the ancient hymn of the early Church:
May the angels lead her into Paradise.
May the martyrs come and welcome her on her way
And lead her into the holy city, Jerusalem.
May the choirs of angels welcome her.
And with Lazarus, who once was poor,
May she have everlasting life. Amen.
I close with the traditional prayer which we Brothers have prayed for over three hundred years:
Live Jesus in our hearts--Forever.
With sympathy and promise of prayers,
Your Brother,
