Leo SIMICH Obituary

SIMICH, Leo (79), of Walnut, CA passed away on Dec. 1st, 2009. Born on June 8, 1930 in Los Angeles. Leo is the eldest of three children of Steve and Millie Simich. He graduated from El Monte Union High School in 1948. He served in the Navy from 1951 to 1955. His significant duty assignment was on the USS Los Angeles. He then spent 48 years working as a laborer and superintendent in the underground construction industry. He worked for Vido Artukovich & Son for 30 years and the rest as co-owner of Simich Construction. Leo Simich supervised numerous large scale pipeline projects throughout California. He was who he was, that's what made him so special to all who really knew him. Thanks for all the memories and stories we have to share. He leaves behind two brothers, Steve and Jerry; his sons, Steve (Nancy), Anthony (Stephanie), and Marc; his grandchildren, Leo, Helena, Maggie, Amanda and Jillian. A memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, December 9, at 6:30 p.m. at St. Anthony's, 712 N. Grand Ave., Los Angeles. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory can be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301, Attn: Gift Processing-payable to DAV, www.dav.org.
