Louise Vogelsang Obituary

Vogelsang, Louise Adrianne
February 1, 1915 - December 19, 2010
Louise Adrianne Vogelsang ("Divi") passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, December 19, 2010. She was 95 years of age. Louise was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt and she will be greatly missed by her extended family and friends. She is survived by her daughter Joy Coppola, grandsons Marc, Christopher and Nicolas, as well as 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Louise was born in Staunton, Illinois on February 1, 1915. She was married to Robert (Bob) Vogelsang in 1932. Bob passed away in 1988 after 56 years of marriage. At the start of the Great Depression Louise and Bob owned and operated a successful market selling quality meat and groceries on the South side of Chicago. Louise made many friends among her customers during this period and always had time to share their trials and tribulations. At the end of World War II Louise and Bob moved their family to California where they opened another successful market on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles.
Louise lived for more than sixty years in the same house in Hollywood that she and Bob purchased upon arriving in California. Recently she had moved to share the home of her grandson Christopher and his family. Louise was a dedicated and loyal individual who loved her family above all. She had a keen, vibrant mind and curiosity that her family was privileged to enjoy until the end.
A funeral mass will be held on December 28, 2010 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Hollywood. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to two non-profit organizations she supported, the MS Society and PAH Nation.

She was blessed with a full and wonderful life. It sounds like she loved her family and they loved her as well. Way to step up Chris and help look after her in her final days. I am sure that meant the world to her to be near you and your family.

Louise Adrianne Vogelsang;
The sadness that overcomes my life
Causing my pain, anger and strife
I looked into her loving eyes
I looked to the heavens and began to cry
As her body became weak and frail
It was my heart that began to fail
Stroking her head with a soft little touch
I knew this was all a bit to much
Hoping in time this all would pass
It was my love for her that would
Always last
Go to sleep and close your eyes
For I have a big surprise
Around the corner they shall wait
It is all the angels from heavens gate
To take you in the safety of their wings
So you can soar through the air and do
Magical things
To float on a cloud to hang form a star
I will forever love you no
Matter where you are
So close your eyes and begin to dream
Of a life of love and happy things
