Margaret DiScianni Obituary

DiScianni, Margaret Gallo
November 8, 1921 - December 16, 2010
Margaret Gallo DiScianni passed away peacefully surrounded by family following complications from a stroke. Margaret was born in Salaparuta, Sicily to Benedetto and Rosaria Baiamonte and immigrated to the U.S. in 1937, settling in Lincoln Heights. She met and married her husband Jack Gallo, a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne who fought in World War II, and raised their five children in Highland Park. After her husband's death in 1959 she worked as a seamstress. She valued learning and sent her children to Catholic Schools and was her children's best example. She retired to Orange County before remarrying Joe DiScianni of Covina, who was the founder of the Irwindale Chamber of Commerce. After his death she returned to Orange County. Margaret is survived by her children (and spouses) Joe Gallo (Linda-predeceased) of Huntington Beach, John Gallo (Deborah) of Murphys, CA, Jim Gallo (Lisa) of Pasadena, Rosalyn (Catherine) of San Francisco, and Mary (Rick) of Houston, TX. She will be missed by her grandchildren Rena, Jennifer, Jack, Melissa, Sara, Melinda, Chris, Matthew, Margeaux and Jamie, and great grandchildren Levi, Marcus, Lily, Ghitta and Hannah. A funeral mass will be held Dec. 30, 2010 at Saints Simon and Jude Catholic Church in Huntington Beach.
