July 14, 1937 - March 16, 2014 Loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Margot was born in Mexico City to Salomon and Stella Leon and raised with her sisters, Rebeca and Julieta, and her brother, Enrique. She married Leo Benardo and moved to Los Angeles in 1960. Her son, Stephen, was born in 1962, and her daughter, Linda, in 1964. The family moved to Cypress, California in 1967, where Leo and Margot lived for 25 years. Margot lived for the last 20 years in Huntington Beach. Margot raised two children, and went back to school, ultimately earning a PhD from Harvard University at the age of 57 in Romance Languages. Margot was a teacher for nearly four decades, teaching students from grade school to college. As a teenager, Margot authored a book of poetry, and retained that passion throughout her life, writing and reading poetry, and editing a poetry magazine. Margot is remembered by all who knew her as an amazing, loving, caring person to whom all could go in good times and in need. Margot is survived by her son, daughter, daughter-in-law Kirsten, grandson Samuel, her sisters, and many nephews and nieces. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Margot's honor to the
