Marguerite LeVecke Obituary

March 5, 1922 - January 25, 2014 Marguerite C. "Milo" LeVecke, age 91, of Orange, passed over peacefully on January 25, 2014. Milo was born on March 5, 1922, in Derry, No. Ireland. As a young girl, her parents migrated the Sweeney family to the United States, where they settled in Anaheim and reared their family of eight children. She was a long member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Anaheim, where she attended its parochial school. As a relatively new family in Anaheim, Milo's father passed over at a young age during the depression years. Milo has always credited her older four siblings for interrupting their lives at that time, to take on jobs to support their Mother, Mary Sweeney, in keeping the family together and united, while assisting their financial needs. Milo was able to continue on with her education and graduated from Anaheim Union High School, class of 1939, along with her future husband, J. Neil LeVecke. They both attended Fullerton College before Neil went on to U.C. Berkeley and Milo to Santa Barbara Teachers College (now UCSB). With the outbreak of WW II, Neil enlisted into the Army Air Corps and was stationed in Carlsbad, New Mexico. On a short leave home they celebrated their wedding on November 14, 1942, at St. Boniface. Their eldest son, Bill (RIP), was born in Carlsbad. Following the war, Neil and Milo settled in Anaheim where their family grew to seven in all. Milo, through the grace of an extended age range of children, was able to serve the St. Boniface School Parents Guild for 32 consecutive years. Milo supported a number of non-profit, charitable and church related causes, including the Anaheim Assistance League and Catholic school education, including St. Catherine Academy, and Rosary, Connelly, Servite, and Mater Dei high schools, and Loyola Marymount University. In total, 18 family members have graduated from LMU. Milo most enjoyed her support of the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to consider contributions be made in Memory of Milo LeVecke to support school tuition assistance in the Diocese of Orange. Donations identifying such can be sent to: The Orange Catholic Foundation, 13280 Chapman Avenue, Garden Grove, California, 92840. Her son, Bill, and husband, Neil, preceded her in death, as well as many members of her Irish family. With her passing, Milo is survived by her large family: Mrs. Bill (Margaret) LeVecke, of Anaheim, CA; Michael LeVecke, of Phoenix, AZ; Tim (Diann) LeVecke of Villa Park, CA; Joyce (Bob) Armen, of Santa Ana, CA; John LeVecke, of Anaheim, CA; Katie (Robert) Wilson of Villa Park, CA; and Neil (Tanya) LeVecke of Newport Beach, CA. Milo also is survived by her 22 Grandchildren and 49 Great-Grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Brown Mortuary, 17th Street, Santa Ana, CA, on Sunday, January 30, from 11:00 a.m.to 2:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Anaheim, CA, on Monday, February 3, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow immediately afterwards, across the street in the Garden at St. Catherine Academy. The internment will be held on Tuesday, February 4, at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Orange, CA, at 10:00 a.m.
