Adams, Marilyn Jean October 14, 1932 - November 7, 2012 Marilyn Jean Adams of Monterey Park, CA passed away peacefully at home on November 7th with her sons by her side after a battle with thyroid cancer. Jean was born October 14th 1932 in Solomon Kansas to Ralph and Valda (Page) McClure. She grew up in St Paul Nebraska where she graduated from St Paul High School in 1950, she also attended the University of Nebraska. Jean married Donald F. Rocke on July 10, 1954 and they lived in Lincoln NE while Don finished law school. Job opportunities then led them to California eventually settling in Monterey Park. She began a 30 year career with the Garvey School District in 1965 working as a Secretary at Emerson and Hillcrest Schools. She married William L. Adams in 1969 gaining 5 step daughters in addition to her 2 sons. She was a member of Montebello United Methodist Church, the women?s Club of Monterey Park, she also volunteered countless hours at San Gabriel and Beverly Hospitals. She enjoyed Sudoku puzzles, reading, water exercise, ladies night out, theater shows and loved to travel, enjoying trips to Europe and many tropical islands as well as frequent trips back home to Nebraska often traveling with her sister Joan or friend Dorothy. She is survived by her sons Don Rocke of Monterey Park, Mike Rocke (Rina) of Chino and step daughters Terri Adams of Mercer Island WA, Lauri Logue (Dax) of Scottsdale AZ, Mari Carrillo (Richard) of Springfield, OR, and Dana Hutgren (Craig) of Longview WA; brothers Roger McClure (Shannon) of Whitehall MT and Larry McClure (Carolyn) of Lincoln NE and 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Jean was preceded in death by Donald F. Rocke Sr., William L. Adams, her sister Joan Hazard and step daughter Jeanni Thodsen (Bent). Jean was an amazing woman who always put others first, especially her family. She will be dearly missed by those who loved her so much. A memorial service is scheduled for December 1st at 10:00 am at Montebello United Methodist Church 1220 W. Whittier Blvd. Montebello, CA 90640.
