Marilyn Hedley Gozzano

1929 - 2017

December 19, 1929 - March 1, 2017 Author Marilyn Hedley passed peacefully in her hometown of San Pedro,CA. She was born in Seminole Oklahoma to Malcolm and Eli Hedley. The family moved to CA in the 30's and settled in Royal Palms Cove where they built their famous decorating enterprise with creations fashioned from flotsam collected on the beach. Marilyn graduated San Pedro High and studied at Palos Verdes College. An accomplished artist she painted sets at the La Jolla Playhouse for Mel Ferrer. She joined Raymond Burrs USO troupe, entertaining soldiers for two tours in the Korean conflict. She wrote a celebrated memoir of her families adventures titled, "How Daddy Became A Beachcomber", optioned by Raymond Burr. With a career in early childhood education Marilyn passionately devoted herself to the development of young children. She served as clerk of the Christian Science Church in Huntington Beach. She is survived by sisters Ba and Bungy; children Cala, Merry, Amy and Nat; grandchildren Ryan, Jennifer, Sean, Amanda, Troy and Heather; and great grandchildren Tyler, Elyssa, Noah, Ben, Lina, Ainsley, Dylan, Haley and Logan.
