November 27, 1931 - March 3, 2014 Marshall B. Katz, 82 of San Marino, California, loving and devoted husband to his beautiful sweetheart wife Francine of 58 and a half years, adoring and caring father to his four children and wonderful, kind and generous "Poppi" to his eight grandchildren, passed away following a short illness on March 3rd, 2014. Marshall was the family patriarch who cherished his family above all else. He was born in Chicago, Illinois. Marshall married his high school sweetheart Francine in 1955 and moved to Los Angeles County in 1957. Marshall was a Korean war veteran serving as a neuropsychiatric technician at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Denver, Colorado. After leaving the military, Marshall began work in the steel distribution industry. In 1962, he started Hokin-Katz Metals Service, a sheet steel distributor and processor. Marshall ran this very successful business until it was sold in 2004. He briefly worked for the new owners before opening another company involving steel brokerage. Throughout his adult life, Marshall with his love Francine, have been involved in philanthropy and humanitarian endeavors. Giving generously to worth-while causes, he has greatly improved the lives of so many. By example, Marshall has served as a tremendous source of inspiration. Referred to as a "giant of a man" not only because of his 6'3 frame but also his generous heart, Marshall will never be forgotten. He will live on in the memories of his beautiful spouse, children, grandchildren and friends. Funeral services will take place at the Home of Peace Mortuary in Los Angeles on March 6 at 11 AM.
