Marta Labat Bin

BIN, Marta Labat Feb. 13, 1940 - Jan. 19, 2008 Marta L. Bin, of Burbank, died Saturday, January 19 at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center. She was 67 years old. Marta had been a devoted educator for 40 years with Los Angeles Unified School District, serving in many capacities, including as teacher, Assistant Principal, Principal, Director of Instruction and Cluster Administrator. Marta was born in Havana, Cuba and was the daughter of Germain Labat and Raquel Ferraez. She and her family emigrated to the United States in October 1960. Marta obtained her Bachelor of Arts from Duchesne College, Omaha, Nebraska; her Master of Arts from Cal State College, Los Angeles; and her Doctorate in Education from the University of California, Los Angeles. Marta is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Manuel Bin: by her three children, Rachelle (Pablo) Lapuerta, Richard (Vinda) Bin, and Michael (Leticia) Bin; by her seven grandchildren, Isabel, Madeleine and Nicolas Lapuerta and Michael, Marc, Amanda and Jonathan Bin; and by her brother, Germain (Beatriz) Labat, Jr. A Rosary will be held on Friday, January 25, at 6 p.m. at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills and a Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, January 26, at 1 p.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, Burbank, directly followed by a burial service at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills.
