Melvin BAUMWOHL Obituary

BAUMWOHL, Melvin I. Born June 15, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois; died October 7, 2010. Mel grew up in Los Angeles. Survived by wife Carolyn and son David; his grandsons, Michael and Darren. Beloved daughter Dana preceded him in death in 1991. Formerly married to Hermoine. Also survived by his stepsons Laurence and Douglas Lipstone. Mel was well known throughout the Los Angeles garment district from the early 1950s until he retired in 1983, owning and operating various men's and ladies sportswear wholesale businesses. In retirement he enjoyed spending time with his wife, family, and many friends. He could be found most mornings holding court with friends at his local Starbuck's. Mel was a Free & Accepted Mason for more than 50 years. Funeral services Monday, October 11, Mt. Sinai Memorial Park, Simi Valley, 866.813.8100.

Mel was such a special person to my family. We enjoyed seeing him in the morning at Starbucks. He was the first person to speak to me when we moved to town. Lot's of great conversations with him. Mornings haven't been the same without him.
