Myron Winkler Obituary

Myron David "Mike" Winkler, 76, of Palm Desert, CA, passed away October 23rd, 2010. He was born in Brooklyn, NY. He received a BS in Business Administration from UCLA in 1955. In 1959, he received his CPA certification. He was President of Franklin Life Insurance, and co-founded Shareholders Capitol Corporation. He was a renowned entrepreneur, philanthropist, pilot, yachtsmen, explorer, exotic car owner, water skier, backgammon champion, competitive golfer and tennis player, vintner and race horse owner. His wife, June Winkler, survives him. He also leaves his children Mark Winkler, Tod Winkler, and Valerie Lewis, as well as their spouses, Aleesha, Kelly, and Randy Lewis. He had eleven grand children, Parker, Sam, Erica, Connor, Alexandra, Michael, Tanner, Jack, Gabriel, Nick, and Caleb. Funeral arrangements will be held at Hillside Memorial at 12:00 p.m. on October 26th. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Save A Heart Foundation or The American Heart Association.

Dear June,
I'm writing for Betty and Mackey Sanders who just heard of Mike's passing. We all send our deepest condolences to you and your family. My mother would like to call but doesn't have your new number. (Alma is in rehab and didn't have her address book). If you receive this message please call me at 805-452-6360.
I understand that you have moved to The Springs where we also have a house. I hope we can see you soon.

We think of Mike and you often. We shall always remember his graciousness and generosity in including us in your many extraordinary celebrations. He was a unique man and it was a pleasure and honor to have known him.

I just learned of Mike's passing and wanted to send my condolences.I recall he suffered a heart attack in his late 20's so he was blessed with a longer life than he expected and lived that life fully. I know that you contributed greatly to that life. I regret that my health issues preclude my
attendance in person. Best regards.
