Richard Ayotte Obituary

Ayotte, Richard
September 27, 1958 - October 9, 2010
Rick, age 52, died tragically on October 9th in a motorcycle accident. Born in Quebec, Canada he moved with his family to California in 1964. He attended Bishop Amat High School graduating in the class of 1976. As an avid outdoors man Rick loved all sports especially surfing. A devoted father, he often commented that his greatest joy and accomplishment was his daughter Emma Ayotte. Second to that was being a grip and the brotherhood he shared with the members at the IATSE local 80 and various productions he worked on. He was preceded in death by his father, John Rene Ayotte and sister, Lori Ayotte. Rick is also survived by his loving mother, Sheila Ayotte, his sister, Maureen Ayotte Baggott and his brother the Reverend Fr. David Ayotte, SJ. He lives on in the loving memories of all his family and friends. We will all miss him dearly! The Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 PM Friday, October 15th, 2010 at White and Day Mortuary 3215 Sepulveda Blvd, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.
The Memorial Mass will be held at 9:00 AM Saturday , October 16th, 2010 at American Martyr's Catholic Church 624 15th Street, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.

My friendship with Rick started close to two decades ago when my producer Carole hired him as a PA. It was one of his first jobs in this new endeavor of his and I can only imagine his initial reaction when he heard that instead of going to the set he’d be helping the director’s wife and young daughter deal with the movers who had just arrived from New York with a semi full of their belongings. Typical of Rick though he embraced the task with open arms and on that day he endeared himself to me and my family, especially to my three year old daughter who was dealing with the upheaval of the moving to LA. From that day forward he worked on every job I shot for nearly a decade. I’m proud to have to have known him and it was an honor to have him by my side as member of my crew, and more importantly as a friend. All my heartfelt condolences go out to all of you who knew him, especially his family – he will be missed. Gil Cope & family
