His family and friends are an enduring legacy. His vision of a Memorial for his IVY Division comrades here in Tiverton, England, where they prepared for the D Day landings, is a permanent one honoured every year on D Day anniversary.
Steadfast and Loyal!

Dad,
I remember "life is short and uncertain" as one of those tid bits of wisdom you shared with others. As I get older, I get it!!!! Life is funny that way!
I still hear your voice, no joke... Ron, Russ, Andrew and Brandon have the same voice!!! With Love, Tami

On this upcoming 80th year anniversary of our beloved 4th Infantry Division fighting across Europe from D-Day to VE Day, I still proudly remember our friendship and shared pride in being 4ID veterans and keeping our legacy alive. I remain - Steadfast & Loyal.

Dad:
I am forever grateful for your positive and optimistic attitude!
When asked how you were doing, you would frequently proclaim "I feel GREAATT!!" (ala Tony the Tiger in the Frosted Flakes commercials :)
In my mind, I can still hear your voice so clearly, proudly proclaiming how you felt about your health, your life, and your circumstances.
Thank you, Dad, for your positivity. It is something I remember often, try my best to emulate, and give thanks for that example in my life.

Missing my sweet grandpa every day. Hard to believe almost 11 years have gone by without his phone calls or singing Phantom or Miss Saigon in his town car. I often miss his wisdom, and his encouragement to always be the kind of person we need more of in this world. Rarely a day goes by without a thought of you Grampa. Xoxoxoxo

Remembering a steadfast and loyal old soldier dearly loved by his family and greatly admired and respected for his military loyalty by those of us here in England. We think of you often Dick and you will never be forgotten in Tiverton, Devon.

Still miss you, Dick Taylor. You and I were a great team when you were Ivy Leaves editor for 4ID Association. And one favorite memory to share - I got upset with our leadership one year, walked out of an executive board meeting, and missed the only reunion I didn't attend since my first one in 1991. You let me cool off for a few months then called me one day and calmly said, "Bob, get over your tantrum and come back to work, we need you." I did and am still a loyal leader of 4ID Association. I still miss you, Dick, my friend. Steadfast and Loyal.

I shall stand in quiet contemplation in Tiverton’s “Peoples Park” looking in wonder at the granite memorial which Dick both commissioned and designed to honour his comrades of the 4th Infantry Division. Thank you Dick for both your tireless work to honour veterans and also to bring your family into the lives of us here in England.

I miss you so much, Dad. I miss the inspiring and enthusiastic person you have always been. I miss watching you interact so genuinely with your many friends and neighbors. I miss our family gatherings. I miss our special time spent together in the cabin, on worldwide adventures, doing genealogy, and discussing interesting topics. I still see news articles that I know would interest you - had you seen them first, you would have sent to me with a note to read, share, and toss. Thank you for inspiring me to be the best that I can be! I love you, Dad!

Remembering our joint writing projects.... remembering calling you after West Point trips, remembering hours of editing over the phone the AM in NY. Remembering telling you I had found the Taylor's plot in Macon, Georgia. I had great fun exploring our family history with you. I still have all your edits to our many drafts in my writing office. Writing has not been the same level of fun without your input and collaboration. Far more solitary. Still, I trust you remain as proud of me now as you were back then.

I babysat for Dick and Charlene in Las Vegas when they lived on Lacy Lane. I babysat Tammi, Rusty (Ron?), and then when she was born, Tina. When Tina was under a year old, I believe, the Taylors moved and I no longer babysat. They were the best next door neighbors one could ask for. We used to go horseback riding and in fact, my Mom purchased my Palomino from Dick in the 60's. We used to have lively conversations about religion, poetry and just about everything when he and Charlene would return when I was watching the kids. I was so sad to hear of his untimely passing. The world is not as rich of a place without him in it.

Remembering a Steadfast and Loyal veteran of the US 4th Infantry Division who will always be part of the history of Tiverton in Devon, England. Dick Taylor designed and funded a War Memorial in our town to honour his comrades in arms who died in the fight for freedom in Europe, 1944.
Dick's legacy is a fine granite Memorial in our town's Peoples' Park on which a Poppy Wreath is placed every year.
Thank you Dick for your generosity.

Dick Taylor is still missed by the veterans of the 4th Infantry Division Association, and especially by me. He was a trusted advisor and as I plan for the commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of WWII, Dick's memory on how he was planning to do it before his untimely death will inspire me to pay tribute to our WWII forefathers as he would have been doing were he still alive. Dick remains a Steadfast and Loyal partner by my side, even though it is only in spirit now.

Well grampa, it's been 3 years... hard to imagine. I'm getting married in 5 months. I wish you could be there to walk my down the aisle, but I know you'll be there in spirit, and we're even saving you a seat. And... I'll be wearing the pearls you gave me. "Grandpa's Pearls of Wisdom." How I loved all the pieces of wisdom you shared, they were always so insightful.

I miss you so much, so so much.

Always thinking of you.

It's March 10, 2014, 40 years since your father passed away, and 1 day short of three years since you passed away, Dad. I have missed you so much and am so grateful for the time Tami and I were able to spend with you at the cabin before you departed. I'm also so grateful for the Daddy-Daughter trips we took to Germany and Tahiti. I loved the trip with you and Logan to England and Germany. Those were such special times. I loved all of the time over the years that we spent at the cabin together, and wish I would have made more time to visit you there more frequently. I miss and love you, Dad! Love, your "Darling Daughter," Tina

Grandpa,
I miss you so much! You really have no idea! Life is so crazy right now here, and sometimes I wish it would all just slow down. I will always miss going to visit you at the cabin, going to the shooting range, and learning the Cremation of Sam McGee. I love going up to the mountains now because of you! I love the peace and serenity there is; away from the stresses of the world. Thank you for all you taught me, and I will always strive to be as good and kind of a man as you were. I love you Grandpa!
