Robert FABBRO Obituary

FABBRO, Robert Fred lost a prolonged, valiant battle for his life in Kaiser Hospital on December 19 at the age of 75. He was preceded in death by his parents, who lived to 88 and 91, and his wife of 44 years, Gail. Throughout his four-month hospital stay, he made his will to recover abundantly clear to his immediate family and care providers. His body did not give up on its own.
"Fabs" graduated from Michigan Tech (where he played football and was ROTC), was an Air Force fighter pilot, and spent his career as a civil engineer with LA County Flood Control District. Bob married Gail Price in 1961, and later earned a Master of Science in Engineering from USC. They had three children: Scott, Alexandria, and Chris, who survive both parents, as do grandchildren Eric, Andrew and his wife Christina, mother-in-law Helen McCabe, and a close network of in-laws, extended family, and friends. He loved outdoor activities such as cycling, hiking, and fishing, as well as traveling, particularly road trips around the West. He was a very active citizen, volunteering with various community organizations and social groups. Mass and burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery in East Los Angeles on Friday, January 14 at 10:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to two of his favorite non-profit groups, Heritage Square (www.heritagesquare.org) and the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association (www.lazoo.org/glaza), or any charity or expression of your choice. www.calvarymortuary.com
