Sylvia Berger Obituary

Berger, Sylvia
Teacher, traveller, wife, mother, grandmother, and force of nature, Sylvia Berger reluctantly departed this world on October 9, 2010, at her home in West Los Angeles. Born in Chicago in 1927, she came west in 1943 and attained degrees from UC Berkeley and CSUN, leading to a teaching career that spanned four decades.
Any weekend might have found her at LACMA, the Odyssey Theater, the latest restaurant, or any of the groups she enriched with her enthusiasm, except when visiting Europe or her beloved New England.
In her last years she became a tireless caregiver to her husband Sheldon and loving grandmother to Katharine. She is greatly missed by her son David, daughter Jacqueline and son-in-law Jeffrey, brother Philip, and by the many friends and family whose lives she touched.
Funeral services: 11AM Friday, October 15, Mt. Sinai Mortuary, Hollywood Hills

I will miss Sylvia immensely and remember her subbing for me and the various classas at McBride with fondness. I will always remember her unique sense of humor and the good times we shared.

At the lunch after the funeral, the cake said-- "Stop Crying and Eat!" Was any inscription more apt? Sylvia, I will miss you. You were one of a kind and I was lucky to be your niece.
