Theodore Carl Wagner Obituary
April 6, 1931 - December 24, 2013 Ted Wagner, LHS Coach, Teacher and Mentor (Cowboy) was born to Christian and Dorothea Wagner in Lovell, Wyoming on April 6, 1931. He was one of thirteen siblings. Ted attended Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana on a football scholarship, graduated 1953 and was drafted into the U.S. Army. Ted's teaching and coaching career began in 1955 at Grass Range High School in Montana, then pursued and earned a masters degree at Colorado State College. Ted interviewed in Denver to teach in the Los Angeles Unified School District. Ted chose Lincoln H.S. rather than Wilson H.S. because he was impressed by Jim Tunney Jr. who was Lincoln's Vice Principal. Ted stayed at Lincoln High teaching history and government for 30 years and coaching for 24 of them. Ted married Adella Rose Seidlitz, an elementary school teacher, whom he referred to as his "rose among thorns' in December 1960. They eventually settled in La Mirada where they raised four very smart daughters. In addition to Ted's family, there are countless colleagues as well as thousands of students who were so very fortunate to have worked with Ted or be in his classroom or one of his athletic teams. Although Ted will remain in our hearts and minds forever, we will sorely miss this kind and humble man who had a deprecating manner and classic sense of humor. Ted treasured his family, his friendships and living life to the fullest. Ted was a devoted friend whose kindness, humor and optimism will always be remembered. Ted is survived by Adella, his loving wife of 53 years, his four daughters Jacquelynn, Jeanette, Jodi and Jean; son-in-law Toby, grandchildren Taylor, Hannah and Hunter; siblings Jack, Phillip, Chris, Rachel and Gloria. Funeral mass Jan. 3, 2014; 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul of the Cross, 14020 Foster Rd., La Mirada, CA. Reception to follow. Interment 2:30 p.m., Olive Lawn Memorial Park,13926 S. La Mirada Bl., La Mirada, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lincoln H.S. Football Trust Fund, 3501 N. Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90031 OR Lincoln Heights Dollars for Scholars, P.O. Box 33286, Los Angeles, CA 90033.
