Thomas Syme Obituary
May 15, 1928 - August 22, 2011
Thomas W. "Tuck" Syme passed away at Holy Cross Hospital. He was born in Blairhall, Scotland to John Syme and Margaret Woods. Mr. Syme lived a very full life. As a pro hockey player, he played Olympic hockey for Scotland and was inducted to the British Hockey Hall of Fame in 2005. He was a coal miner in Scotland, gold miner in Quebec, and policeman in Ottowa. He became a cable splicer for General Telephone Co. in 1962. He then joined GTE's Private Branch Exchange in 1978 before retiring in 1988. Mr. Syme leaves his wife, Emma, and her four children, Vicky Johnson (Randy), Rhonda Spiker (Richard), Shari Brown (Doug), Richard Gonsalves (Diana), niece Lynn Benko (Walter), Jennifer Hutchinson (Ian) and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held at Hally-Olson-Murphy, 3150 E. Palmdale Blvd., Palmdale, CA 93550 at 4:00 pm on September 27, 2011. Donations may be made to Cancer Research.
