William MUNZER Obituary

MUNZER, William Joseph Age 55. Longtime resident of Long Beach, California, and Chino, California passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at his home in Chino, from a heart attack. Bill was born in Santa Ana, California on December 20, 1954, to Rudolph and Daphne Munzer. He lived as a young boy in Fullerton with his brother, Daniel, and sister Anne, moving in 1961 with his family to Long Beach. Bill attended St Barnabas School, Hughes Junior High School, and the Catalina Island School. Since that time he has been occupied by his many interests, which include farming citrus in Nipomo, purchasing and renovating properties, and spending time with his family and friends.
An excellent athlete, Bill was a tennis player, avid skier, golfer, swimmer and surfer, influencing and encouraging the efforts of his children, his nephews, and his other family members when they played, surfed, and golfed together. He was a longtime supporter of the Boys Scouts, and his sons, Daniel and Jeffrey both achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Bill was a friend to many, and an unforgettable character by many standards. He liked to ask questions, and often provided his own unique answers. Munzer (Pamela), sister, Anne Munzer Bourne (Randy); Bill's nephews and nieces, James Munzer, Elizabeth Munzer Middagh, Kirsten Bourne, John Bourne, and Dana Bourne. Dear extended Munzer family:
My prayers are lifted for you.
I first met Bill one chilly September 1973 morning, we were both cleaning a grocery store parking lot in Flagstaff, before classes to earn extra spending money while attending NAU. We became close friends and ultimately roommates for nearly the next four years. Bill and I stayed in contact over the years but not in the kind of contact one wishes for when something as tragic as this happens.
My prayers go out for Bill's children, his brother, sister and mother, for comfort dealing with the loss of a father, brother and son. And to all of us who loved Bill and lost a friend.

Bill was one of my best friends at Catalina Island School. He was a stand up person with a zest for the goodness and good things in life and he was a true leader, one that goes the right direction overall and out of his way to include everyone. I am so saddened by this news and send my condolences to his family and friends and our old friends. I always expected to see Bill again to share how our lives turned out. I can see by all that is written how Bill touched the world and the people around him. When I met him 40 years ago on a small island, his character helped us create the spirit with whence we went into the world and that still lives with me today.

Bill's presence was like a bright sun shining in the room. His confidence and enthusiasm made him a great athelete, adventurer and pleasure seaker. His opinions were challenging yet repectively condsidered. Friendships and family were an honor and cheerished by him. Our friendship will always be precious to me. My condolances go to all his family and closest friends. Always and everything Bill
