SHANKS, H. O'Neil Born in Celeste, TX on July 21, 1917, O'Neil passed away June 16, 2008. After making his home in Ada, OK he served in the Navy from 1942-1946 then served as National Executive Secretary for the Screen Extras Guild for over 40 years. Negotiated the first "Preference of Employment" clause in the industry for the protection of experienced extra players which set the pattern for the Industry Seniority clause now enjoyed by the Screen Actors Guild and most other Hollywood unions and guilds. Survived by his sister Virginia (Ralph) Phillips of Grand Junction, CO; nephew, Gary Phillips of Grand Junction, CO; niece, Jo (John) Hernandez of Mesa, AZ; and numerous great-nephews and nieces. Preceded in death by his wife, Angela. Public visitation on Monday, June 23rd from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Pierce Brothers Valhalla Mortuary, 10621 Victory Blvd., N. Hollywood, CA 91606. Private interment at San Fernando Mission Cemetery.
